TRANSPARENT REPORTING

The report output comes from Corporate Planner, not from Microsoft Excel. Finished reports can be saved with their chosen layouts as Excel files and with no loss of accuracy in the calculations or business logic. Even in-house layouts can be stored.

 

Ad-hoc-Analyses

The Corporate Planner integration provides the Microsoft Excel user with a facility for generating flexible and dynamic ad-hoc reports based on Corporate Planner data and structures. All the compiled reports and graphics are refreshed online automatically. The data are stored centrally in Corporate Planner, which is also where the users are authorised and access rights defined.

DYNAMIC DATA ACCESS

Selecting the Corporate Planner data to appear in the ad-hoc report is a straightforward step-by-step process supported by a wizard. The data structures are assigned one by one to the rows, columns and table header. In the resulting pivot tables, the displayed data streams, time spans and structures can be selected dynamically according to immediate requirements. For instance, the user can view the Budget instead of the Actual figures simply by double-clicking on that cell in the table header. Tables can also be transposed.

The dynamic features of the integration permit a drill-down to Corporate Planner structures through which more detailed data can be retrieved. Any changes occurring within the Corporate Planner data source can be seen straight away in the Excel clients. If, say, new items are added centrally, they will automatically show up in the clients when these are opened.

 

A STRONG TEAM

In the CP-Excel PLUS variant, planning functions of Corporate Planner can be accessed directly from Microsoft Excel. Data input in Microsoft Excel cells is transferred straight to Corporate Planner for automatic "planning" (either direct or by seasonal, top-down or bottom-up distribution). The results are then written back to Excel. All this takes place in a matter of seconds.

When other users access the data, whether in Corporate Planner itself, in CP-Excel or in CP-Web, they are always supplied with the updated figures. The risk of unreliable data storage commonly associated with spreadsheets is avoidable with the integration. Unique reports based on the Corporate Planner model can be created in Microsoft Excel. The user has the full Excel function range at his fingertips, while the data and structures originate from Corporate Planner. Reports of all varieties can thus be designed using the layout functions of the spreadsheet application. Specific formats, colours and graphic types which were previously unfeasible are now possible; the user's creativity need encounter no limits. The integration is an excellent tool for a user-defined reporting system and quick ad-hoc plans, and it can also be implemented very effectively in decentralised planning environments.

The tool places user-friendly yet highly sophisticated planning functions at the disposal of individual employees, branches, subsidiary companies or other business areas. It allows the user to remain in familiar surroundings but at the same time supports and enhances the professional planning capabilities of Corporate Planner.
